Konovalov Viktor Andreevich

Konovalov Viktor Andreevich (1912-1995).

In 1936 he entered the Moscow State Art Institute. V.I. Surikov. In 1942 drafted into the Red Army. As part of the 928th Infantry Regiment, the 252nd Infantry Division takes part in the Battle of Stalingrad. He became one of the three surviving soldiers of the regiment. Awarded the medal "For the Defense of Stalingrad". In 1943, at the request of I.E. Grabar was recalled from the front and evacuated to Perm. In 1944–1945 As part of the Art Studio of the Main Political Directorate of Border Troops, he travels on business trips to Warsaw, Prague, and Budapest. In 1947 he graduated from the Institute in the workshop of Academician I.E. Grabar. He is known for creating frescoes at the Kievskaya metro station (including the panel “Friendship of Peoples”), as well as the lobby of the Ukraine Hotel. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Paintings are kept in private collections in Russia and abroad.
