Avant-garde artist. Follower P.N. Filonova. One of the first artists of the sixties. Member of the group “Nonconformist Artists” in the 1960s-80s. In the Sokolniki yard, where Kozlov spent his childhood, a good company of friends gathered: Vladimir Maksimov, Vladimir Bukovsky, Anatoly Zverev. The first personal exhibitions were held in 1964 at the Moscow Energy Institute and in 1965 at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. In the circles of Russian emigration he is known as one of the co-authors of the romance “For the fourth day the villages are burning...”, in which he owns the final stanzas. He created many works based on iconographic subjects; together with the St. Petersburg architect Alexander Chistyakov, he created a model of the Church of the Last Judgment.
