In 1864 he entered the Academy of Arts. For the program painting “Cain and Abel” (1871) he was awarded a gold medal. He began participating in academic exhibitions early. Master of the subject scene in painting. The famous art critic V.V. Stasov highly regarded his paintings. He died of tuberculosis, leaving a small legacy.
