Russian and Soviet artist, book illustrator, engraver, cartoonist. One of the first fairy tale illustrators in Soviet Russia. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He worked primarily using the cardboard engraving technique he invented. As an illustrator, he collaborated with the magazines “Krasnaya Niva”, “Veselye Kartinki”, “Murzilka”. He designed books for the publishing houses “GIZ”, “Detgiz”, “Molodaya Gvardiya”, “Peasant Newspaper”, “Pravda”, “Soviet Writer”. He participated in various all-Union and foreign exhibitions, including the International Exhibition “The Art of the Book” in Leipzig and Nuremberg (1927), exhibitions of Soviet graphics in Helsinki, Tallinn, Stockholm and Gothenburg (1934) and in New York (1940). In 1949, a memorial exhibition of Kuznetsov’s works was held in Moscow. The artist's works are represented in many museum collections, including the Pushkin Museum. A. S. Pushkin and the State Russian Museum.
