Born into the family of an icon painter. He studied at the Saratov Bogolyubov Drawing School (1891-1897). then at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1897-1903) with K.A. Korovin and V.A. Serov, as well as in private academies in Paris (1905). He was a member and exhibitor of the associations “World of Art”, “Union of Russian Artists”, “Four Arts”, “Salon of the Golden Fleece”. In Saratov he organized the “Scarlet Rose” exhibition, which anticipated the creation of the “Blue Rose” society. He was one of the founders and ideologists of the association of symbolist artists “Blue Rose”, which was formed around the exhibition of the same name in 1907. Along with V.E. Borisov-Musatov was one of the most consistent Russian Symbolist artists. S.P. Diaghilev included the works of P.V. Kuznetsov to the exhibition of Russian art in Paris in 1906. In the 1910s. P. Kuznetsov made a trip across the Volga steppes to Kyrgyzstan, based on his impressions he created the “steppe suite”. He worked a lot in the theater. He taught at the Higher Art and Technical Workshops and other institutes. Works by P.V. Kuznetsov's works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in many regional museums.
