Representative of the art of the Silver Age. He taught at the Feodosia Teachers' Institute, from 1914 to 1916 he lectured at teacher courses in Simferopol and Feodosia, from 1919 - 1921 - he headed the arts department of the Feodosia Department of Public Education. Since 1920, he became a member of the Feodosia Union of Artists, led by K.F. Bogaevsky. In Feodosia he organized a museum, a People's Theater, and an Art School. In 1916 he was elected fellow chairman of the art section of the FLHO. In 1918, he was a member of the Feodosia literary and artistic circle “Flag”, and designed the circle’s posters. Khrustachev's work is presented in many Russian museums and was exhibited at more than 50 exhibitions, including the Personal Exhibition at the Feodosia Art Gallery in 1988. The author's works are in many regional museums and private collections.
