Grigorashenko Leonid Pavlovich (October 21, 1924 — January 13, 1995)

Soviet painter, graphic artist and poster artist who worked in the mainstream of realistic art. He specialized in historical painting, easel and book graphics, created cycles of works dedicated to historical events, the Great Patriotic War, cultural and international relations.Grigorashenko was a member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1945, and in 1958 he became a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts. In 1960, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Moldavian SSR, and in 1963 ‑ National Artist of the Moldavian SSR. In 1967, he became a laureate of the Moldavian SSR State Prize for a series of watercolors and etchings "For the Power of the Soviets!". His awards include the Order of Lenin (1960), the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1971), the Order of Friendship of Peoples (1984), the Order of the Badge of Honor (1949) and the Order of Cyril and Methodius, First Class (People's Republic of Bulgaria, 1974). In 1984, Grigorashenko was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Chisinau, and in 1987 he became a deputy of the Supreme Council of the MSSR.He began his art education at the studio of painting and drawing under the guidance of A. Foinitsky was born in Tiraspol (1932-1937), then continued his studies at the Chisinau Art College under A. I. Bolier (1940-1941). Since 1947, he actively participated in national, All—Union and foreign art exhibitions. He held personal exhibitions in Chisinau. (1956, 1966, 1974, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2004), Moscow (1962), Ulyanovsk, Irkutsk, Nizhny Tagil, Kemerovo (1972), Plovdiv (Bulgaria, 1977), Sofia (Bulgaria, 1978), Belgrade (Yugoslavia, 1983) and Ulan‑Batore (Mongolia, 1989). Grigorashenko's works are kept in the National Art Museum of the Republic of Moldova, the National Museum of the History of Moldova and the State Tretyakov Gallery.
