Leningrad and St. Petersburg painter, graphic artist, architect, designer, member of the Union of Artists since 1956 and the Union of Architects since 1954, professor of the department of drawing and painting of the Faculty of Architecture of LISI-SPbGASU, candidate of architecture. Lanin's creative heritage includes more than two thousand works in different types of art, techniques and genres, belonging to several sharply different periods. Possessing incredible creative energy, determination and ability to work, the artist was organically incapable of working “by inertia,” occupying one specific niche in the artistic world of Leningrad and varying the themes and techniques once found. Lanin's works primarily reflect the internal evolution of the artist, who was keenly aware of the hidden drama, complexity and contradictions of his time and who devoted his entire life to the search for expressive means adequate to this time, allowing for a deep and accurate artistic analysis of it.
