Painter, graphic artist, ceramist. The grandson of I.K. Aivazovsky, received his first impression of art from his grandfather’s paintings. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts from 1896 to 1902, in the landscape class of A. I. Kuindzhi. Then in Munich in the artistic mi Ferry-Schmidt. Traveled through Greece, Italy, Turkey, Germany. Since 1902 he participated in the Spring exhibitions of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts and the Vienna Secession, since 1912 - in exhibitions of the World of Art association in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kyiv. He was one of the founders of the New Society of Artists of St. Petersburg. In the early 1900s he was in charge of the Feodosia Art Gallery. In 1920 he went to Greece and worked at the Athens factory "Keramikos". Participated in archaeological excavations on the islands of Delos, Crete, Thazos. Since 1924 he lived in Paris, was engaged in decorative and applied arts and painting. In 1935, his personal exhibition took place in Reims. Early works of M.P. Aatri was created under the strong influence of I. Aivazovsky. The best works of M.P. Latri are dedicated to Crimea, including architectural and seascapes. The artist’s legacy is kept in the Feodosia Art Gallery, his works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum. A number of Aatri's works are exhibited at the Louvre.
