Lemport Vladimir Sergeevich

Lemport Vladimir Sergeevich (1922, Tambov - 2001, Moscow).

Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, Soviet and Russian sculptor, translator, actor. Born on July 12, 1922 in Tambov in the family of an agronomist and a literature teacher. After the war, Vladimir Lemport graduated from the Higher Art and Industrial (Stroganov) School, faculty of monumental and decorative sculpture. The creative method of Vladimir Lemport is characterized by monumentality, generalization of form on the one hand and graphic detailing on the other. Vladimir Sergeevich Lemport developed his own plastic style, striking with the power and depth of his artistic solution. The author of many monumental sculptural compositions that have become an integral part of the appearance of such architectural monuments as Moscow State University on Sparrow Hills (1952), the stadium in Luzhniki (1956), the Palace of the Soviets (1960), the embassy in Lagos and Nigeria (1968), the Tourist Hotel and the State Library in Rostov-on-Don (1973-80), the embassy in Athens (1980), the Russian Drama Theater in Ufa (1982), buildings of the academic towns of Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk (1985), the Ariadne and Artek hotels in Crimea (1986). The works of Vladimir Sergeevich are presented in permanent exhibitions in the Moscow Museum, on Poklonnaya Hill, in the Muzeon sculpture park; they also decorate the facades of public buildings in many cities in Russia and former Soviet republics.
