Lesin Evgeny Konstantinovich

Soviet Russian painter, graphic artist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, representative of the Leningrad School of painting. Evgeny Lesin was born on December 29, 1917 in Penza. In the 1920s, he moved to Leningrad with his parents. In 1936-1939 he studied at the Leningrad Secondary Art School at the All-Russian Academy of Arts. In 1939, E. Lesin graduated from the Secondary School and was accepted to the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin. In the same year, from the first year of college, he was drafted into the Red Army. He participated in the war with the White Finns and the Great Patriotic War. After demobilization in 1945, E. Lesin returned to study at the Institute. He studied with L. F. Ovsyannikov, M. I. Avilova, I. P. Stepashkina, Yu. M. Neptseva. In 1951, E. Lesin graduated from the I. E. Repin LIZHSA in the workshop of R.R. Frents with the qualification of an artist of painting, presenting his diploma painting "In the studio of Stanislavsky at a rehearsal." In the same year, following the results of his graduation painting, E. Lesin was accepted into the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. Since 1951, he participated in exhibitions, painted thematic paintings, portraits, landscapes. He worked under contracts with Lenizo and the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Art Fund. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the work of E. Lesina was represented at exhibitions and auctions by masters of the Leningrad school of painting in France. His works were printed on postcards. His works are in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
