Levi Vasily Filippovich

Levi Vasily Filippovich (1878-1954).

Painter. Born in Kharkov. 1900-1901 participated in circles of Kharkov artists. He painted mainly academic landscapes and subsequently still lifes. He received a legal education and served as a juror in the judicial chamber of the St. Petersburg district. Since 1916 he devoted himself to art. He was a confidant and secretary of the famous artist I. Repin, an organizer and participant in I. Repin's exhibitions (1919 - 1930). Lived and worked in Paris (1930 - 1939). In 1930, he participated in an exhibition of paintings by Russian masters in Amsterdam, and became one of the organizers of an exhibition of Russian artists at the d’Alignan gallery. Since 1939 he lived in Stockholm. The artist's works are presented in the State Literary Museum (Moscow), museums in France, Sweden, and Finland.
