Czech artist who belonged to the so-called People's Theater generation. Adolf Liebscher was one of the most popular artists in the Czech Republic in the 1880s and 1890s. He studied painting and graphics in Prague and Vienna. He was among the artists who participated in the artistic decoration of the National Theater, where he painted Melodrama, Operetta, Epic, Ballet, Opera, etc. After traveling in Italy, A. Liebscher taught drawing and graphics at the Prague Higher Technical School from 1879. A. Liebscher is known primarily as a master of historical, religious and decorative painting, as well as an illustrator. Liebscher illustrated the magazines Zlatá Praha and Světozor.
