Russian artist and graphic artist. The son of a lawyer, a descendant of a French officer who came to Russia under Peter I. In 1943 he went to the front, was demobilized from the army in 1952. In 1953-1958 he studied at the Moscow Printing Institute under I.I. Chekmazov (a student of V. Kandinsky). Lyon considered Cranach, Rembrandt, and Durer to be his teachers. Lyon's minimalist painting and graphics, often interpreting biblical themes and close to abstract art, were unacceptable for official art; during his lifetime the artist practically did not exhibit. At the end of the 1970s, Lyon joined the Union of Artists of the USSR. Collaborated with the magazine “Knowledge is Power”. He was engaged in book illustration; only two of his works in this genre were published - “Typee” by G. Melville (1967) and “Lyrics” by Catullus (1989).
