Emmanuil Yakovlevich (Manuk Akopdzhanovich) Magdesyan (1857, Armenian Bazaar - 1908, Simferopol)

Russian marine artist of Armenian origin. In 1878-1892 he studied at the Academy of Arts, received a small and large silver medal. After graduation, he moved from St. Petersburg to Feodosia, where he worked in the studio of I.K. He was one of the regular authors of the illustrated magazine "Niva". In 1895 he settled in Simferopol, where he opened an art gallery for the public at his studio. The collection of the Magdesyan gallery became the first art museum in Simferopol. The author's works are presented in the Simferopol Art Museum and in other museum collections, as well as in private collections.
