Магидсон А.С.

Magidson Ariadna Solomonovna (1906, Moscow - 1981, Moscow).

She studied at VKHUTEMAS-VHUTEIN in the painting and design departments under P.P. Konchalovsky, I.M. Rabinovich, F.F. Kondratyeva, V.D. Bushen, V.G. Sakhnovsky. She completed an internship in the decorative workshops of the Bolshoi Theater. Member of the AHRR. In the 1930s worked as part of teams for city decoration, demonstrations, and mass theatrical processions. In collaboration with her husband Yu. Shchukin and A. Kuznetsova, she wrote the book “Design for Holidays and Everyday Life” (M., 1934). As an easel painter, she painted mainly landscapes and still lifes in oils and watercolors. Magidson’s work was greatly influenced by the impressions she received from traveling along the Baikal-Buryatia-Mongolia-Vladivostok route and getting to know Buddhist, Lamaist and Chinese cultures. The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Central Theater Museum named after. A.A. Bakhrushin, in the museums of Saratov, Kirov, Kaluga.
