Maksimov Vasily Maximovich

Maksimov Vasily Maximovich (1844–1911).

A Russian genre painter and Academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts. He was a member of the P.A. Krestonostsev Artel of Artists and the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (the Peredvizhniki). He participated in exhibitions at the Academy of Arts (1860s) and with the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (1871–1901, 1904–1912), as well as the World’s Fair in Paris (1878), the All-Russian Exhibition in Moscow (1882), and others. Maksimov’s artistic legacy is represented in the collections of major Russian museums—such as the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum—and museums across the former USSR, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad.
