In 1934 he graduated from the Odessa Art Institute, studied with T.B. Fraerman and A.F. Gausha. Since 1935 he lived in Leningrad, worked as the chief artist of the Leningrad State Museum of Agricultural Reconstruction. During the war years he worked as a regional graphic designer. Since 1946, a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists, in the period 1952-1957 he was expelled “for formalism.” Since the 50s, G.K. Malysh has been actively participating in numerous exhibitions. Malysh’s personal exhibitions were held in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1985, 1986, 1996, 1997. in Leningrad-St. Petersburg, in 1979 and 1982. in Sosnovy Bor, in 1983 in Kislovodsk. The artist’s works are in the State Russian Museum, the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, the Museum of 20th Century Art (Pennsylvania, USA), the Dragon Museum (Taiwan), the Watercolor Museum (Mexico City), art museums in Kyiv, Nalchik, Khabarovsk, in private collections in Australia, USA, Sweden, Mexico, France, Japan.
