Russian artist and graphic artist. He painted genre, historical and battle scenes. In addition to fine arts, he was engaged in literary activities. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts from 1871 to 1876. In 1877, without completing the course, he went to the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878 as a volunteer soldier. Upon his return, he brought numerous military sketches. Thus, in the State Tretyakov Gallery there is his painting “In Bulgaria” (1879), depicting an episode from this war. Malyshev lived and worked in St. Petersburg. In the 1880-1890s, he published drawings, caricatures and illustrations in the magazines “World Illustration”, “Oskolki”, “Ogonyok”, “Business and Rest”, “Dragonfly” and others. Since 1886 he has been a participant in exhibitions. He exhibited works at exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1886-1893, with interruptions), TPHV (1882-1892), the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (1889-1892), and at the All-Russian Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod. Member and exhibitor of the St. Petersburg Society of Artists since 1904.
