Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe (1969-2013) is a genius of transformation, one of the most significant contemporary Russian artists. Valery Katsuba (born in 1965) is a photographer whose works are in the collections of the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Collection of Contemporary Art of the Government of the Autonomous Region of Madrid, and the National Collection of Contemporary Art of France. As a creative duo, they created a number of striking projects, including “All Passion is Blind and Crazy” - first shown at XL Gallery in 2001. In the summer of 2015, the project was exhibited at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art at Monroe’s large retrospective exhibition “Archive-M” and was included in the catalog of this exhibition. Found in the collection of the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow / Moscow House of Photography. In 2016, three works from this project were selected for the collection of the National Center for Arts and Culture Georges Pompidou, Paris. Consists of 10 photographs in which Monroe's character - the "mad clown", as he called him - demonstrates, in a plastically exaggerated manner, in the tradition of silent film actors' performances, ten inherent human passions. For the exhibition booklet in 2001, Vladik Monroe wrote: “Happily accepting Valery Katsuba’s invitation to express my own emotions, I discovered and recorded meaningless manifestations of passions that sooner or later leave a thinking person. The faceless mask of an oligophrenic clown, of course, is not my true face, rather an evolution from Pierrot through Petrushka to a certain Monroe, which the kind public often uses me...” V.K.M.M. – Vlad Korolevich Mamyshev Monroe, as he called himself then.
