Soviet and Russian, theater artist, painter. Born into the family of the famous Soviet zoologist Boris Stepanovich Matveev. After graduating from school, he entered two universities at once: the Moscow Energy Institute (graduated in 1949) and the Moscow Art Theater School in the production department, which he graduated in 1950. After graduating from universities, he came to work at the Moscow Art Theater, but soon, in 1951, he went to work at the Central Academic Theater of the Soviet Army, which at that time was called the Red Army Theater. During his time working at this theater, he participated in the production of more than twenty performances, not only as a production designer, but also as a lighting technician. Among his performances were “There Wasn’t a Penny, But Suddenly Altyn”, “Optimistic Tragedy”, “Factory Girl”, “My Family”, etc. He also collaborated with other theaters. In the 60s he began his teaching career. He gave a course of lectures at the Moscow Energy Institute. He proved himself to be an outstanding landscape artist. Alexander Borisovich's paintings and watercolors convey the fabulous beauty of central Russia, the Caucasus, Crimea and other places. Participated in many art exhibitions.
