Medvedev Grigory Antonovich (1864-1944).

Artist. Since 1923, member of TatAKHHR. Since 1932, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Cool artist 3rd degree for the paintings “From the Coal” and “Without Air”. In 1894 he graduated with a silver medal in drawing from the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, a student of P. P. Chistyakov. After graduating from the academy, he participated in the construction of an art school in Kazan, where he worked as a teacher and later as a school director for twenty-five years. His students V.K. Timofeev, N.I. Feshin, P.A. Radimov.. Participant of the first Kozmodemyansk exhibition, as well as numerous exhibitions in Kazan, Moscow and exhibitions of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR) in the city of Krasnokokshaysk.. In 1920-1930 he painted paintings reflecting the life of the Mari people, historical paintings, among them: “Stenka’s March Razin" (1926) and "Collecting Yasak" (1928), and also created a series of paintings "Floating timber along the Kokshaga River" (1920s, 1935). The works are in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, other museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
