The largest of the masters of Russian abstract art. Since 1939 he lived in Leningrad and entered the Leningrad State Institute of Foreign Languages. He studied in a theater studio. Having gone through his passion for Pollock’s paintings, he came to the author’s original version of the “new figurativeness.” Mikhnov's search partly brings him closer to surrealism, Russian cosmism, and the works of A. Arefiev and his circle. In 1959-1988 Worked at the Leningrad Art Fund. The artist’s works are in the State Russian Museum, as well as in private collections in Moscow, New York and Paris.
