Milles John Everett

Millais John Everett (1829-1896).

English painter. At the age of nine he was accepted into the school of the Royal Academy of Arts. Together with D. G. Rossetti and W. Hunt, he became one of the founders of the “Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood” (1848) and embodied the artistic tasks facing the Brotherhood’s masters in the painting Lorenzo and Isabella (1848, Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery). Often the artist was able to combine disparate pictorial and compositional elements within one work with great success. In the late period of his creativity, the artist did a lot of portrait painting; when he chose literary subjects and depicted details from memory, his works turned out to be less successful. In 1853 he was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts, and in 1896 became its president. Millais died in London on August 13, 1896.
