Full member of the Academy of Arts (since 1966), People's Artist of the USSR 1976). Twice laureate of the USSR State Prize (1951, 1977), Laureate of the Lenin Prize (1984), Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR. Repina. As a child, I studied in the art studio of K.S. Petrov-Vodkin, studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the Academy of Arts under G.I. Kotova, A.S. Nikolsky, L.V. Rudneva. Was influenced by I.E. Grabar. He worked a lot on monumental works, created a portrait of Lenin for the curtain of the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, mosaics and paintings at the Leningrad Youth Theater, took part in the creation of mosaics and paintings of the metro and public buildings in Leningrad. In 1974-1979 visited Spain, the result of the trip was the triptych "Spain", for which in 1982 the artist was awarded the gold medal of the USSR Academy of Arts. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in all major museums in the country.
