Honored Artist of the RSFSR. He studied with N. Feshin (1908 - 1912), at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture with L. Pasternak, A. Arkhipov (1913-1915). Since 1915 participant of exhibitions. Author of the painting “Entry of the Red Army into Krasnoyarsk.” Works by N.M. Nikonov exhibited in 1923 in New York, in 1930 in Venice, Zurich and Bern, in 1932 at the Venice Biennale. The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery and other museums.
