Contemporary artist and sculptor. In 1970 he graduated from the Odessa State Art College. Grekova. In 1979 he moved to New York. Participant of exhibitions since 1981. In 1997 he became a laureate of the Florence Biennale. In 2007, the author’s exhibition “Conversation with an Object”, held at the M’ARS Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow, was a great success, later moving to the Marble Palace of the Russian State Museum in St. Petersburg. In 2009 he was admitted to the Russian Academy of Arts. Okstein's works are in the collections of New York's Whitney Museum of Contemporary American Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and in private collections.
