Osipov Alexander Efimovich

Painter. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He received his art education in St. Petersburg. After graduating from college in 1915, he entered the Academy of Arts, where he studied with professors G. Zaleman, A. Makovsky and I. Tvorozhnikov. His drawings of the 20s are distinguished by great skill, conciseness, sharpness and precision of strokes. This can be judged by his first exhibitions in 1926-1928, organized by the association "ISTR" ("Art for the Working People"). Serious successes in painting are evidenced by portraits of the 30s. The portrait of M.S. Osipova (1935) is distinguished by its confident, strong design and great pictorial merits. In 1939, A. Osipov was admitted to the Moscow organization of the Union of Artists. Devoting most of his time to teaching (1920-1945), he simultaneously worked as an artist-correspondent for Komsomolskaya Pravda and other newspapers, and was engaged in posters, book graphics and illustrations for various publications. Since 1960, A. Osipov has been working a lot and successfully at his creative dachas, and on business trips - in Transcarpathia, Ukraine, Crimea, and the Caucasus - creating interesting series of sketches. In 1973, a series of personal exhibitions of A. Osipov took place in the halls of the Union of Artists in Moscow. A.E. Osipov’s works are stored in the State Historical Museum, the State Museum of the Revolution, the Institute of Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad: in the UK, USA, Italy, France, Bulgaria and other countries.
