Ostretsov Georgy

Ostretsov Georgy (1967, Moscow).

1984 graduated from the Theater and Art School at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. 1988-1998 lived and worked in Paris. Currently lives and works in Moscow. PREPOSITIONAL CASE Experience in international art and fashion projects prompted Georgy Ostretsov, after his return from Paris, to create the artistic and political science project “New Government” - a utopia of art as an active, although not always utopian unambiguous political force. Various political, social and aesthetic phenomena are thematized by Ostretsov in bright, easy-to-read images of NP. Hidden behind masks, NP agents are efficient and devoid of understandable human desires; they embody the mechanism of power. The artist manages to maintain the provocative ambiguity of his total project and remain in an invulnerable position of unbiased social criticism, invariably witty and accurate. Large canvases and installations are made in the aesthetics of a comic book, mixed with a seemingly random invasion of the street, which spoils the totalitarian message with colored blots and dirt. The phantom world of Georgy Ostretsov reveals simple mechanisms of power, levers of manipulation of mass consciousness. Alexander GOSPEL SELECTED SOLO EXHIBITIONS AND PERFORMANCES 2007 "Repair".
