Otto Van Ven

One of the largest Flemish masters of the Mannerist era. Until 1572 he studied in the workshop of Isaac Class Svanenburg in Leiden, then in the workshops of D. Lampsonius and J. de Ramey in Liege. From 1575 to 1583 worked in Rome, where he was influenced by Federico Zuccaro and Ludovico Cigoli. In 1584-1585 lived in Cologne, carried out orders from Ernst of Bavaria. In 1585 he worked as court painter to Alexander Farnese in Brussels. He had a large workshop, in which from 1594 to 1598. Rubens studied. From 1612 he worked in Brussels as the court master of the Archducal couple. The artist’s works are in many major museums in Antwerp, Brussels, other European countries, as well as in the USA.
