1957 – 1963 studied at the Moscow Architectural Institute. Since 1971 - member of the Union of Architects of the USSR. In 1971–1982 - member of the Belutin Studio. He is a member of the Union of Architects of Russia since 1971 and the International Federation of Artists. Pankin developed as an artist in the 1960s and began exhibiting in 1966. Since 1985, almost two dozen of his personal exhibitions have taken place. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum.
