Pavil Ilya Anatolievich

Pavil Ilya Anatolyevich (1873 – 1948).

Born in Odessa. In 1892 he moved to Paris, settled in Montmartre, where he lived all his life. He studied with A. Bouguereau and E. Detaille. He painted impressionist landscapes, genre scenes of Montmartre street life, and performed pen drawings. He exhibited at the Salon of the Association of French Artists, the Autumn Salon and the Salon of Independents (1905 – 1906). From 1906 to 1929 he held solo exhibitions at the G. Petit and Bernheim galleries, and in 1933 at the J. Charpentier gallery. Received silver medals at the Autumn Salon (1930 and 1931). He was awarded the Legion of Honor. Presented at the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
