Pavlovsky Seraphim Alexandrovich

Pavlovsky Seraphim Alexandrovich (1903 – 1989).

Monumentalist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Born in the village. Yablonka, Arzamas district, Nizhny Novgorod province. In 1923-1925 studied at the Nizhny Novgorod Art College with A. Kuprin and A. Fonvizin. From 1925 to 1930 he studied at VKHUTEMAS with L. Bruni, P. Kuznetsov, V. Favorsky, N. Chernyshev. Over the years of study, he thoroughly studies the history of art, the subtleties of technique and technology of painting. The artist works in different genres: easel painting, monumental painting, mosaic, sgraffito. Seraphim Pavlovsky is the author of such monumental and decorative works as the towers of the Karamyshevsky lock on the Moscow-Volga canal, the ceiling lamps of the second floor foyer of the Red Army Theater, the mosaic at the Dobryninskaya metro station, the design of the Botanical Garden metro station.
