Pchelin Vladimir Nikolaevich (1869, Kyiv - 1941, Moscow).

Honored Artist of the Republic (1926). Wanderer. He received his artistic education at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, from which he graduated with the rank of class artist. One of the first serious paintings by V.N. Pchelina - “Young at Father-in-law's (1892) - immediately brought fame to the young artist and was acquired for the collection of P.M. Tretyakov. He studied for some time at the Imperial Academy of Arts in the workshop of I.E. Repina. Until 1917, he mainly painted everyday scenes from contemporary reality. He took part in exhibitions of the Association of Itinerants. Author of the paintings “January 9, 1905”, “Execution of Stepan Razin”, “Attempt on the life of V.I. Lenin on August 30, 1918”, “Before October”. The most famous paintings for the Soviet audience were “The Execution of Alexander Ulyanov” and “The All-Union Collective Farm Congress Visiting the Red Army,” which were widely reproduced in magazines and school textbooks. Works by V.N. Pchelin are represented in the collections of the State Russian Museum and the State Tretyakov Gallery.
