Petrov-Vodkin Kuzma Sergeevich (1878, Khvalynsk, Saratov province -1939, Leningrad).

Painter. Member of the “Four Arts” and “World of Art” associations, at one of whose exhibitions the work “The Bathing of the Red Horse” was first shown. He studied in the painting and drawing classes of F.E. Burov in Samara (1895-1897), then at the Stieglitz Central School of Technical Drawing in St. Petersburg (1895-1897). In 1905 he graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied with V.A. Serov. He attended A. Ashbe's studio in Munich (1901) and private academies in Paris (1905-1908). The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum.
