Honored Artist. In 1930 he graduated from VKHUTEIN, class in easel painting with A.V. Shevchenko. Since 1928, he has been a regular participant in Moscow, republican and all-Union art exhibitions. Since 1936 - member of the Moscow branch of the Union of Soviet Artists. From 1936 to 1948 – Associate Professor of the Department of Painting and Composition at the Moscow State Art Institute, senior teacher of painting and composition at the Moscow Secondary Art School. V.V. Pochitalov was an outstanding teacher; they studied with him: V.F. Stozharov, V.I. Ivanov, P.P. Ossovsky, A.A. Tutunov, I.V. Sorokin, A.P. Tkachev, E.G. Bragovsky and others. Since 1948 - Associate Professor of the Department of Painting and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts at the Moscow Textile Institute. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and many regional museums.
