Podgursky Viktor Stepanovich

Painter, monumentalist and teacher. In 1914-1918 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1920 he emigrated to Shanghai. He worked as a political cartoonist for the newspaper "Shanghai Life". In 1920-1922 he taught drawing, painting and plastic anatomy at the People's University of China, in 1923-1927 - at the Shanghai Institute of Painting, since 1928 - at Xing-Hua College. In 1929 he became a member of the Shanghai Art Club, where he taught drawing and painting. He collaborated with Shanghai architects on the design of buildings (Sassoon House, French Club, etc.). In 1947, he returned with his family to the USSR. Until 1956, he taught at the Kazan Art School. The author's works are presented in the collection of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as in private collections in Russia, China and other countries.
