Polenov Vasily Dmitrievich (1844 - 1927).

Painter, theater decorator. Studied at the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University; At the same time, he was a volunteer student at the Academy of Arts, which he graduated from in 1871 with a gold medal. Polenov V.D. was a member of the Mamontov circle in Abramtsevo and, together with other artists of this circle, wrote the scenery for the Mamontov opera. Pedagogical activity of Polenov V.D. at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1882-1895) had a great influence on the further development of Russian landscape. His students were Levitan I.I., Korovin K.A.
