Poplavsky Georgy Georgievich

Soviet and Belarusian graphic artist and painter. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1995). Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts (1991), Russian Academy of Arts (1991). Honored Artist of the Belarusian SSR (1977). People's Artist of Belarus (1997). He worked in the field of easel and book graphics. An artist of a wide range: mastered the techniques of linocut, lithography, etching, drypoint, and pen drawing. In 1955 he graduated from the Minsk Art School, in 1961 from the Belarusian Theater and Art Institute. In 1965-1968 he taught at the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute. Since 1988 - head of the graphic workshop of the state cultural institution "Creative Academic Graphic Workshops" of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus. The author's works are in the collections of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Union of Artists, the State Tretyakov Gallery, as well as in private collections in Belarus, Russia and other countries.
