Pozhedaev Georgy Anatolievich

Russian theater artist, graphic artist. From 1908 he took lessons from Ya.F. Tsioglinsky. Since 1915 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting and Painting with A.E. Arkhipenko and N.A. Kasatkina; then at the Academy of Arts with D.N. Kardovsky and G.R. Zalemana. He worked for theaters in Petrograd and for the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. In 1920 he emigrated to Romania. Worked at the National Theater in Bucharest. In Prague he performed scenery for Anna Pavlova's troupe. In 1921-1924. lived in Berlin and Vienna. Since 1925 - in Paris. Worked for the theater "Die Fledermaus" N.F. Baliev, designed performances of the Russian repertoire in Madrid and Barcelona. He painted landscapes of Paris and Provence, still lifes, and created graphic portraits. Since the 1920s worked a lot in book graphics, illustrated works by N.V. Gogol, M.Yu. Lermontov, F.M. Dostoevsky, A.P. Chekhov. Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honor (1953). The artist's personal exhibitions were held in Berlin (1922), the Neue Galerie salon in Vienna (1924), in the Parisian galleries of L. Reimann (1946). Works are in museums in Berlin, Paris, as well as in Russian and foreign private collections
