Prokofiev Alexey Matveevich (1859-1925).

Landscape artist. Graduated from the Imperial Academy of Arts under A.I. Kuindzhi (1902). Participant of spring exhibitions in the halls of the Academy of Arts until 1918, exhibitions of the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Artists of St. Petersburg, as well as the Association of Artists of St. Petersburg (1916–1917), etudes and sketches of the Society named after. A.I. Kuindzhi (1917–1918), Petrograd Society of Artists (1918). In 1920, he was invited to the city of Alatyr to inspect schools of the public education department. Organized drawing courses for primary school teachers in the city and county, and invited local artist-teachers N.A. to help. Kamenshchikov and F.S. Churasheva. The artist's works were repeatedly published in pre-revolutionary periodicals and on postcards.
