Born on May 16, 1933 in Novosibirsk. After graduating from school, he left for Leningrad. He was attracted to ballet images, and he worked for some time as a teacher of fine arts at the ballet school. Vaganova. During these years, he painted many portraits of ballerinas, who later became famous and not so famous. He carried his love for ballet throughout his life. His multifaceted talent allowed him to work in different artistic genres. He did everything: frescoes, mosaics, stained glass windows, sculpture and monuments, portraits, paintings, easel and book graphics, was engaged in applied arts, designed the interiors of ships, cafes and restaurants, painted temples, designed films and theatrical productions. Member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 1972. Many private collections and galleries contain works by Yu. Pugachev. They are in Germany, Japan, Finland, France, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Great Britain, Syria, Sweden and the USA.
