Soviet and French artist, one of the founders of the Lianozovo art group, organizer of the Bulldozer Exhibition (1974), recipient of the Order of the Russian Academy of Arts "For Service to Art" (2013). He studied at the art studio of Evgeny Kropivnitsky, in 1946-1948 at the Riga Academy of Arts, and also studied at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov. Participated in the III exhibition of works by young artists of Moscow and the Moscow Region (1957), the VI World Festival of Youth and Students (1957), the International Exhibition of Fine and Applied Arts at the Gorky Central Park of Fine Arts, the Bulldozer Exhibition (1974), the anniversary exhibition on Gogol Boulevard (1995), the COLLECTION! Contemporary art in the USSR and Russia: a new gift to the museum" at the Pompidou Center (2016-2017), a solo retrospective exhibition in Grand‑Palais (Paris, 2018) and dozens of solo exhibitions in London (1965), Paris (1977, 1991, 2010, etc.), Oslo (1982), Vienna (1983), Jersey‑City (1984), New York (1986, 1996, etc.), St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg (1993), Moscow (1991, 2007, etc.) and other cities.
