Russian artist, painter, graphic artist, and set designer. From 1908 to 1917, he studied at the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. From 1908 to 1918, he was a leading cartoonist for the magazines "Strekoza," "Satyricon," and "Novy Satyricon," creating satirical drawings on political and everyday topics, as well as caricatures of Russian cultural and artistic figures. From 1920, he lived in Paris, working at the "Lubok" art advertising studio. He collaborated with Nikita Baliev's "The Bat" theater, designing productions as a theater artist. From 1922, he lived and worked in the United States. From 1939, he worked as a production designer in Hollywood, where he was the lead artist on 35 films. The artist's works are in the State Russian Museum and many other museum and private collections.
