Romanovich Sergei Mikhailovich

Born in 1894 in Moscow into the family of an employee of the Moscow Orphanage (for foundlings). In 1909 he entered the general education department of the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1918 he graduated from the painting department of the School. From 1918 to 1920 was a teacher of painting at the Moscow Proletkult. From 1920 to 1922 taught painting and drawing at the Higher Art Workshops in the city of Voronezh. From 1922 to 1923 served as a teacher, professor of painting and drawing at the Moscow Higher Art and Technical Workshops, and taught drawing and painting at the working faculty of VKHUTEMAS. From 1923 to 1929 taught painting and drawing at the Voronezh Art and Industrial College. From 1929 to 1930 taught painting and drawing at the workers' faculty of the Institute of Architecture and Construction. In 1936-37 taught painting at advanced training courses for graphic artists. In 1937-38 taught at advanced training courses at the USSR Academy of Architecture. From 1939 to 1940 he worked as an artist in the Monumental Painting Workshop at the USSR Academy of Architecture in Moscow.
