Battle painter. In 1877 he entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, in 1886 he received the title of class artist. In 1889 he painted a large-scale canvas "Review of the Polish Cavalry by Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich in Warsaw on Saxon Square in 1824", acquired by Emperor Alexander III, who in 1891 invited Rosen to St. Petersburg as a court painter. In 1893 he received the title of academician of battle painting of the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. The works of Ivan Rosen are presented in the National Museum of Warsaw, the National Museum of Krakow, the State Hermitage Museum, the State Memorial Museum of A.V. Suvorov, the State Vladimir-Suzdal Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, the Military History Museum of Artillery, Engineering Troops and Signal Corps, the Central Naval Museum, as well as in private collections in Russia and Europe.
