Rozhdestvensky Vasily Vasilievich

Rozhdestvensky Vasily Vasilievich (1884, Tula - 1963, Moscow).

In 1900–1910 studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He was one of the members of the “Jack of Diamonds” association. The artist was strongly influenced by the painting of the French Cubists; he sought to justify the cubization of forms in his paintings by the shapes of the objects themselves. In the early 1920s, Rozhdestvensky, like other members of the group, focused on the art of the old masters, and from the late 1920s he returned to the realistic manner. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum.
