Rosing (Tvelkmeyer) Lidia Borisovna (1898 - 1980)

Soviet architect. In 1916, she graduated from the Peterschule School at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Peter and entered the architectural faculty of the Women's Polytechnic Institute. In 1922, she continued her education at the 2nd Polytechnic Institute, then moved to the Academy of Arts, from which she graduated in 1925, receiving a diploma as an architect-artist. In the same year, she married a graduate of the Academy of Arts, architect-artist Viktor Fedorovich Tvelkmeyer. In the 1920-1930s she worked in architectural and design organizations in Leningrad. According to her designs, a number of buildings and structures were built in cities of the USSR. During the Siege of Leningrad, she was engaged in the design of bomb shelters and the production of camouflage materials in the defense workshop of the Fine Arts Department of the Leningrad City Committee of the Union of Artists. In 1942–1944 she worked in the Leningrad Inspectorate for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments. She was awarded the medals: “For the defense of Leningrad” and “For valiant labor in the Great Patriotic War.” From 1943 to 1953 she taught at the Faculty of Architecture of the Leningrad Civil Engineering Institute.
