People's Artist of the USSR (1962). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1964). Laureate of the USSR State Prize in 1950. Theater artist. He studied at the Free Art and Technical Workshops in Voronezh (1918-922) and at VKHUTEMAS in Moscow (1922-1924). He was a member of the associations “Makovets”, OMH, “Four Arts”, AHRR. He was the chief artist of the Chamber Theater (1931-1934). E. Vakhtangov (1935-1944, 1947-1958), at the Moscow Drama Theater (1944-1947), Bolshoi Theater (since 1953). In Ryndin’s works of the late 1920s and early 1930s. the influence of constructivism is noticeable. He designed the performances “An Optimistic Tragedy” by Vishnevsky (1933, Chamber Theatre), “Much Ado About Nothing” (1936, E. Vakhtangov Theater), “The Young Guard” by Fadeev (1947, Moscow Drama Theatre), “Hamlet” by Shakespeare (1954, Moscow Theater named after V. V. Mayakovsky); “War and Peace” by Prokofiev (1959), “Don Carlos” by Verdi (1963), “The Unknown Soldier” by Molchanov (1967), all at the Bolshoi Theater. He taught at the Moscow State Art Institute. V.I. Surikov (since 1965). Works by V.F. Ryndin are located in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the State Central Theater Museum named after. A.A. Bakhrushin, in the Bolshoi Theater Museum, in many private collections
