Saltanov Sergey Nikolaevich

Saltanov Sergey Nikolaevich (1870 – 1917, France).

Painter and graphic artist. He studied at Moscow University, later in Paris at the Julien Academy, where he met the daughter of L.N. Tolstoy, Tatyana Lvovna. Later he often visited Yasnaya Polyana, where he created a significant part of his works (mainly views of Yasnaya Polyana). Personal exhibitions of S.N. Saltanov took place in 1908 and 1913. The artist's works were shown at the Tolstoy exhibition in 1911. In 1914 he left for France. Works by S.N. Saltanov are in the State Museum of L.N. Tolstoy in Moscow, in the Yasnaya Polyana museum-estate, as well as in many private collections in Russia and abroad.
